Production, visualization and analysis of large volumes of remote sensing images modeled as multidimensional data cubes for the entire Brazilian territory.

Mosaics generated from Sentinel-2 images by the Brazil Data Cube project

The Brazil Data Cube (BDC) project team releases two new mosaics of the Brazilian Amazon and Cerrado biomes.

These mosaics were produced using the BDC project technologies, the software DataCubeBuilder and the surface reflectance images of the Sentinel-2 data cubes of 16 days with spatial resolution of 10 meters. To select the best cloud-free and shadow-free pixels within a certain period, we used the LCF (Least Cloud First) composition function available in the software DataCubeBuilder.

The mosaics aim to meet institutional demands:

– Amazon mosaic: demand from the TerraAmazon project, which has a partnership with INPE and FUNCATE to perform visual interpretation. This product covers images from July to August 2022, in which the SWIR1 (B11), Red Edge (B8A), and Red (B4) bands were used for RGB color composition.

– Cerrado mosaic: demand from the TerraClass Cerrado project, which has a partnership with INPE and Embrapa. This product covers images from June to September 2022, in which the NIR (B8), Red (B4), and Green (B3) bands were used for RGB color composition.

Visualization and download of these mosaics can be done through the Portal BDC Explorer through the links:
